The truth as I know it:

We witness a miracle every time a child enters into life. But those who make their journey home across time & miles, growing within the hearts of those who wait to love them, are carried on the wings of destiny and placed among us by God's very own hands. ~~~ Kristi Larson

Someone Please Explain This....

It has not been above 20 degrees here in three days.  Seriously... in the South, where it's not supposed to ever be below freezing for more than a day.  Needless to say, we are FREEZING!  We don't have clothing for this type of thing.  But that's not what I don't understand.  What I don't understand is where in the world all the snow is going.  It's been snowing a pretty good clip for 24 hours or more now.  We have some on the ground, but you can still see the grass quite well.  The deck is not completely covered and it's not piling up by any means.  Where in the world is it going?  It's not melting.  But it's not getting deeper.  It's funny because Brian said it looks like the movie snow, it's sort of "snowing up", which I think means the snow is so dry that it's just blowing around.  But still, at some point it has to land and go somewhere, right?

Here are some sad photos to prove how pathetic our snow is and how much kids in the South want to have fun in the snow.

See how spotty the snow is, it's mostly ice, actually.

My Russian girl who has lost her affinity for the cold.

Seriously?  Don't you feel sorry for them?  It's hardly worth the effort.

Now that, my friends, is brotherly love.... you will pull your sister on her sled, across dry concrete, so she doesn't have to walk back to the ice patch.  :)  Precious boy!

I won't be one bit surprised if we are out of school Monday too.

Barb, on second thought, I don't think I can move to Finland.  Tell me when it's warm, I'll come visit you then! :)

Oh Ondrea! You can come here to sled, we have a great hill and about 24 inches of fluffy white stuff. It is very cold here today though about 5 so we are inside. I love the picks, and it is brotherly love to do that, it is hard work! Stay warm with lots of layers, hot cocoa and marshmallows, mac & cheese and a toasty fire. Enjoy your winter!

Seriously, where is the snow going? We have had maybe 1/2 inch and it's been snowing for more than 2 days non-stop! Owen was able to make ONE snowball today and throw it at Jim and ONE to keep on the porch to watch to see when it melted, but that was about it! I loved the pictures of your kids "sledding." LOL It really is HILARIOUS if you have ever seen a "real" snow :)

You're right. I wouldn't be surprised if schools were closed again Monday. Actually, our street is iced over, but all the other roads nearby are clear!

Ah, c'mon, Ondrea . . . I need a kindred spirit to keep me company over here! I hate the cold . . . I totally don't get the attitudes of people here: FB statuses like "I've got time to do a little x-country skiing before work" and then about 20 "likes" . . . . The snow's pretty to look at through the window and that's where I'll watch it from. Yesterday, Sofia asked me why I wasn't out sledding with them like I did last winter. My answer: well, Sweetie, last winter when you you first came here, I wanted to be with you, playing with you, helping you, making you feel safe. But, Mommy really doesn't like the cold. But I did it for you last year. That's how much I love you. . .

You and your kids have got to come up here when they can actually play in the snow for the entire day! I might add that although we have a lot of snow; we don't have many hills to sled down! I know of two that kids use and one of them is man-made!!
